After setup has copied the
server files, the server address
and the server port must be
entered. The database directory
must also be selected.
When selecting the server
address (IP address) all IP
addresses available from other
computers (e.g. 127.0.0.1 is not
listed) are at your disposal
The Server port is automatically
set to Port 2000. The server
port needs to be changed only if
other software on the server PC
uses Port 2000 (standard TCP/IP
protocols do not use Port 2000)
Before the server installation
is finished, a database
directory must be selected. All
data (collected by the program)
and all program settings are
saved there. Important: After
uninstalling the software,
database files from the database
directory will not be deleted
and can still be used (if the
server is installed again).
During the installation of the
WProd-Control server
registration data must be
entered : the dialogue
“Information about the
WProd-Control / License data
…. " If this data is not
entered, the server will not be
completely installed and it will
not be able to start.
Client Installation
Important: Before you install the client program, the server program must be completely installed. After the setup has copied the client files the dialogue "wpc Setup : Server-Connection" will appear. In this dialogue you must enter the server settings (server port and server address) – the settings you have already entered when you have installed the server. The next step is to press key "1. Test connection" then press key "2. End Setup and start using
WPC".
Server Uninstallation
Uninstall the WProd software by using
"Start/Control Panel/Add or remove
programs.
Client Uninstallation
Before the WPC software is uninstalled under
"Start/Control Panel/Add or remove
programs" the client process must be
ended: In Windows task Manager select tab
"Processes", then select
"wpc.exe" and press the key "End
Process".
Upgrading from WProd-Monitoring to WProd-Control
If you want to go from WProd-Monitoring to
WProd-Control, the server program for WProd-Monitoring
(look under "Server
uninstallation") must be uninstalled and afterwards the server program for WProd-Control
(look under "Server installation") must be
installed. The installed (and
active) client programs do not need to
uninstalled/installed, nor do their processes have to be
ended.
Upgrading WProd-Control
If an upgrade has been purchased,
e.g. to shift from 10 users to 30
users, only the new license data has to be entered
(Dialogue "Information about
WProd-Control"/ button –
"License data …") in the ServerAdmin program (Start/all
programs/WProd-Control).
- If the WPC client is installed/used under the Windows Vista operating system, the Parent Control option must be turned off, if this instruction is not followed, the CPU can become overloaded.
- After the installation of the WPC client under the Windows Vista operating system, it is necessary to restart the computer because the WPC client can only receive data from programs started after the installation.
- It is necessary to restart your computer after the installation of the WProd server under the Windows Vista operating system.
- The server program and ServerAdmin program cannot be properly started if the database directory does not exist or if read/write rights do not exist for the given database directory.
